Real Wood & Metal Furniture

Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture uses real wood and metals for all its cabinets, furniture and accessories. Many pieces are constructed with real logs and solid slabs of wood. We prefer and actually seek out wood with cracks, twists and color. This is the inherent character of wood and is not considered a defect. Natural wood will have knots and checking that we will fill unless it is requested to leave them unfilled.

Our reclaimed wood will have nail holes, board cupping, old pegs, patches, cracks, saw marks, water marks, worm holes, bug holes, sunspots, and dents. These attributes are not considered imperfections. We consider them character and believe they pay homage to the historical authenticity and original craftsmanship.

Our furniture, therefore, does not have to be artificially distressed providing an authentic look that will last for generations.

Wood adjusts different times of the year to the moisture content in the air. In a sense, the wood breathes and will adjust to the moisture content of your home. You may notice a slab move or even develop small cracks. A dry home may cause the wood to move or crack more than a home with proper humidity. Our wood slabs are kiln dried to minimize wood movement.  Cracks are not considered a defect.  If you requested epoxy in the cracks, the epoxy may also crack.  This is also not considered a defect.  Our workshop will fill cracks and knots with an epoxy filler unless requested otherwise.

Small cracks can be easily fixed by placing wood putty in with a plastic putty knife. Some clients prefer to highlight the cracks by dabbing black stain in for contrast. With proper care and maintenance your furniture will be around for many generations to enjoy.

Cancellation Policy

Once manufacturing has begun we are required to charge a 25% cancellation fee due to the wastage of precious wood and labor costs. If manufacturing has not begun, but funds have been collected, a 5% fee will be charged on the total invoice amount.

Return Policy

Items may be returned within 14 days of receipt of goods.  Items must arrive back to Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture in the same condition as when the left the warehouse. The original packaging material will greatly assist you in this endeavor. Custom items are not eligible to be returned.

Refunds, minus a 25% restocking fee and all shipping charges, will be issued within 7 business days, following inspection once the order arrives back in the warehouse. Refunds will be processed by the same means as payment was tendered.

Shipping Policy

We select shipping companies that agree to deliver our customer’s furniture in a timely and safe manner, however, please understand the shipping companies are run by their own policies and procedures, which are completely out of our control. Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture makes no guarantee furniture will be delivered by a specified date. We will provide an estimated date if requested, but this is not to be taken as a guarantee. Should this date not be met, it is not a valid reason to cancel the order.

Freight companies will deliver to your driveway, and lower the palletized furniture to the ground with a lift gate. The drivers will not move the crate at that point, it will be the responsibility of the customer. These deliveries are often with 50’ freight trucks so roads and driveways can sometimes be an issue.

Performed by smaller transportation companies, white glove service is also an available option at additional costs. This service will typically add 2-3 weeks to the transit time and should be considered if a smaller UPS-sized truck is necessary to reach your home or if you require inside delivery and assembly.

Damage Policy

If visible damage to the crate appears to be slight, please note it on the Proof of Delivery form. Do not destroy the crate. Upon inspection of the contents, if you notice damage please take photos and send them to us as soon as possible. In most cases slight damage can easily be repaired with materials we will send to you.

If damage to the crate is severe you have the option of immediately refusing delivery of your order or to inspect the contents before accepting. Either way, you must note the damage on the Proof of Delivery form. Failing to note damage will affect the ability of Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture to file a damage claim on your behalf.

Warranty Information

Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture warrants to the original purchaser that for ONE YEAR from the date of purchase, Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture will, at its discretion, repair or replace any piece of furniture that is found to be defective in material or workmanship.

It is required that you notify Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture of any defect found within one year from the date of purchase. After receiving notification of a claim, it may be necessary for Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture to arrange for an inspection of your furniture to determine whether or not a defect exists.

Repairs will be attempted as the preferred resolution method in all cases. However, if Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture, or an authorized representative determines that repair is impractical, Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture will furnish a substitute unit of the same or similar color, design, style and quality. Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture will honor reasonable and customary labor charges during this warranty period for the purpose of repair or replacement of warranty parts. An authorized Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture service agent will perform warranty service.

This warranty protects you only when you purchase your furniture from Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture and is only applicable for normal household use, not for commercial use. Commercial furniture is protected by a six month warranty and does not cover wear and tear.

Proper care and use are essential to preserving your rights under this warranty. Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture will not repair or replace your furniture if improper maintenance or improper use causes damage. This warranty does not apply if your Iron Mountain Forge & Furniture product is damaged by the use of detergents, abrasives or other harsh cleaning agents. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from negligence, abuse, normal wear and tear, or accidents including burns, cuts, scratches, tears, scuffs, watermarks, indentions or pet damage. This warranty does not cover floor samples or products designated “AS IS” at the time of purchase.

Solid wood reacts to the amount of humidity in your home. Long periods of low humidity will dry wood and cause splitting, cracking, and warping. Exposing your furniture to excessive dampness is also something that should be avoided. Controlling your indoor relative humidity year round between 40% – 45% will eliminate these problems. When arranging furniture in your home, be thoughtful to avoid heat vents and direct sunlight to prevent discoloration, drying, and cracking.
